Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

NAACL 2018 Student Research Workshop

December 6th, 2017 / in Announcements, CCC, research horizons, Research News / by Helen Wright

The 2018 NAACL Student Research Workshop (SRW) will be held in conjunction with NAACL HLT 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 1-6th, 2018. The SRW gives student researchers in Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing (NLP) the opportunity to present their work and receive constructive feedback and mentorship by experienced members of the Association for Computational Linguistics community.

General Invitation for Submission

The SRW provides a venue for student researchers to present their work in computational linguistics and natural language processing. Students receive feedback from the general conference audience as well as from mentors specifically assigned according to the topic of their work. SRW is especially focused on supporting undergraduate students and early-career graduate students, as well as students from universities without an existing strength in NLP.

Papers in two different categories are invited:

  • Thesis Proposals: This category is appropriate for advanced students who have decided on a thesis topic and wish to get feedback on their proposal and broader ideas for their continuing work.
  • Research Papers: Papers in this category can describe completed work, or work in progress with preliminary results. For these papers, the first author must be a current graduate or undergraduate student.
  • Topics of interest for the SRW are the same as NAACL main conference. See the list of topics here.

Use this website to submit.

Important Dates

  • Submission for mentoring deadline: January 15, 2018
  • Papers submission deadline: March 02, 2018
  • Acceptance notification deadline: April 02, 2018.
  • Camera-ready papers due: April 16, 2018.

All deadlines are calculated at 11:59 pm (PST/GMT -8 hours).

The Computing Community Consortium (CCC) will be co-sponsoring this event. For more information, including the rules for submission, see the SRW website.
