Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.


Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship

The Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship is a global program that identifies and empowers the next generation of exceptional computing research talent.

“Microsoft recognizes the value of diversity in computing and aims to increase the pipeline of talent receiving advanced degrees in computing-related fields to build a stronger and inclusive computing-related research community.”

Over the last two decades, this program has supported over 700 fellows around the world, many of whom have gone on to work at Microsoft. Others have gone on to perform pioneering research elsewhere within the technology industry or accept faculty appointments at leading universities.

Timeline for US and Canadian based fellowships

  • Nominations from the university will close Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 12:00 PM (Noon) Pacific Daylight Time
  • Qualified nominees will receive an invitation email by July 9, 2021 to submit their proposal
  • Proposals and letters of recommendation will be accepted through August 6, 2021
  • Recipients will be announced by mid-October 2021
