Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

Webinar on Becoming a CISE IPA Program Director (Rotator) at NSF

November 3rd, 2022 / in NSF / by Maddy Hunter

The NSF will be hosting a webinar “Becoming a CISE IPA Program Director (Rotator) at NSF” on November 7th, 2022 from 4:00-5:00 PM EDT. The synopsis is below:

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an IPA Program Director, take time out of your current position, and come to the National Science Foundation (NSF)? Do you want to hear what it takes to come to NSF and what you would do once you got here? What is it like reading proposals that may change the science or leading review panels with experts from around the country? This webinar will address these issues and introduce you to the processes and experience of being a rotator in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Directorate. During this webinar, you will meet the CISE leadership and current rotators and learn how to become an IPA program Director at NSF. There will also be time for your questions.

The Computing Community Consortium did a guest blog feature, “Life as an NSF Program Director“. The post was written by Doug Fisher who served as a Program Director in the Division of Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS) from July 2007 to August 2010.  In the blog, he described a day in his life as a NSF PD so that others could judge whether it might be something they would like to try.

Register for the webinar here.
