On August 4th from 1-2:30pm ET, the National Science Foundation (NSF) will hold a webinar answering questions about the NSF National Quantum Virtual Laboratory (NQVL), Quantum Science and Technology Demonstrations (QSTD): I. Pilot Phase, solicitation, NSF 23-604.
The National Quantum Initiative (NQI) Act aims to maintain the United States’ leadership in quantum information science and technology. To achieve this, the NQI emphasizes the identification and early adoption of quantum technologies to transform the field of Quantum Information Science and Engineering (QISE) and have broader impacts on society. The approach involves integrating end-users and potential customers from various fields of science and engineering, facilitating research, development, and demonstration cycles to lower barriers for pioneering new applications.
The NQVL aims to support the goals of the NQI by inviting proposals that encourage the development and utilization of use-inspired and application-oriented quantum technologies, in the process also exploring quantum frontiers, promoting workforce education, engaging in outreach activities, and encouraging diversity and inclusion in QISE.
Proposal deadlines are November 30th for 2023 and June 11th for 2024. Prospective PIs must contact the NQVL Program Officer(s) no later than two weeks before submitting a proposal in response to this solicitation, to ascertain that the focus and budget of their proposal is appropriate for this solicitation.
