The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.


CCC Seeks New Director as Mary Lou Maher Concludes Term

Mary Lou Maher, CRA’s Director of Research Community Initiatives and leader of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC), will be concluding her tenure at CRA at the end of August. We thank Mary Lou for her leadership and contributions to the computing research community during her time at CRA.

As the Director of CCC, Mary Lou provided strategic, administrative, and programmatic leadership. During her time in the role, CCC organized more than 20 community events, including two symposia and five visioning workshops, with two additional workshops currently in development. She also oversaw the publication of six visioning workshop reports, three Best Practices for Interdisciplinary Computing Research documents, and eight Quadrennial Papers.

“Mary Lou has been a tremendous asset to CRA, providing thoughtful leadership and driving key initiatives that have strengthened our connections across the research community,” said CRA Executive Director and CEO Tracy Camp. “We are grateful for her many contributions and wish her continued success in her next chapter.”

Seeking a New Leader for Research Community Initiatives

CRA is seeking a full-time Director of Research Community Initiatives to lead the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) and support CRA’s broader research community efforts. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape high-impact computing research initiatives and engage with stakeholders across academia, industry, and government.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in computing, and has experience managing multi-stakeholder programs, securing research funding, and working with the computing research community. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
