Every February, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) — the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific society and the publisher of the Science family of journals — holds the AAAS Annual Meeting, which brings together scientists, engineers, and press to share and discuss their work with each other. The 2021 Annual Meeting will take place virtually next week, February 8-11. The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) just announced its 2020 Fellows! The honor recognizes diverse accomplishments, including pioneering research, leadership within a given field, teaching and mentoring, fostering collaborations and advancing public understanding of science.  Among the 2020 Fellows is Yolanda Gil from the University of Southern California. Computing technologies have revolutionized the world, from how we grow food to our social interactions. At the core of this revolution is computing hardware, the shrinking of which has allowed for powerful computation in the palm of your hand. Unfortunately, Moore’s law is coming to an end and we will no longer be able to build more powerful computers using traditional CMOS-based hardware.
