Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

Upcoming Deadline for NSF’s Broadening Participation in Computing Proposals

The upcoming deadline to submit proposals for the National Science Foundation’s Broadening Participation in Computing program (BPC) is January 20th, 2021. The BPC program aims to significantly increase the number of U.S. citizens and permanent residents receiving post-secondary degrees in the computer and information science and engineering (CISE) disciplines, and to encourage participation of other groups underrepresented in the CISE disciplines. Two funding opportunities under this program are Supplements for BPC Plans and BPC Demonstration Projects. What Role Will Computing Research Play in the Future of Infrastructure?

Congress recently passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, a bipartisan bill which includes $550 billion in new federal spending on infrastructure over five years. OSTP Announces Public Events in November to Engage the American Public in National Policymaking about AI and Equity

The White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP) is launching a series of listening sessions and events to involve the American public in the development of a Bill of Rights for an Automated Society. With the growing influence of data-driven technologies, the series is part of a national endeavor to ensure that emerging socio-technical systems are safe and just.
