Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

Congratulations to the 2019 ACM Fellows

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) just announced their 2019 ACM Fellows. The ACM Fellows award is ACM’s most prestigious member grade, which “comprise an elite group that represents less than 1% of the Association’s global membership.” The 2019 list honors 58 members of ACM for their contributions to computing. Among the 2019 Fellows is Computing Community Consortium (CCC) Council Member Maria Gini (University of Minnesota), recognized for her “for contributions to robotics and multi-agent systems and a lifelong commitment to diversity in computing.” Maria joined the CCC this year and is a member of the Health and Computing Task Force. The Director of the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program is pleased to share the link for the updated Federal Cybersecurity Research and Development (R&D) Strategic Plan (2019)! Congratulations to the 2020 IEEE Newly Elevated Fellows!

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has released its 2020 list of newly elevated fellows. The IEEE Grade of Fellow is given to a IEEE member with an extraordinary record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest by the Board of Directors. NSF Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Institutes

The National Science Foundation (NSF) just posted a number of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Institutes: Accelerating Research, Transforming Society, and Growing the American Workforce Solicitation (NSF 20-503). The National Artificial Intelligence Research Institutes program anticipates approximately $120 million in grants next year to fund eight planning grants and up to six research institutes in order to advance AI research and create national nexus points for universities, federal agencies, industries, and nonprofits.
