The 2020 ACM Hypertext conference is July 13-15 in Orlando, Florida. It is a premium venue for high quality peer-reviewed research on hypertext theory, systems and applications. ACM Hypertext is concerned with all aspects of modern hypertext research including social media, semantic web, dynamic and computed hypertext and hypermedia as well as narrative systems and applications. The theme of Hypertext 2020 is “HYPERTEXT for Social Good”. This motto of the 31st ACM Hypertext conference goes hand in hand with the growing importance of ensuring technological inventions and innovations have a positive impact on the users, as well as the society at large. They are particularly interested in work that is […]
Computing Community Consortium Blog
The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

January 29th, 2020 / in Announcements, Blue Sky, research horizons, Research News / by Helen WrightThe following great innovative idea is from Yiqun Xie, who is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Minnesota. Xie along with his advisor and former Computing Community Consortium (CCC) Council member McKnight Distinguished Professor Shashi Shekhar, Professor Richard Feiock of Florida State University and Professor Joseph Knight from the Department of Forestry Resources at the University of Minnesota, received a Blue Sky Idea Award at the 27th ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems. They were honored for their paper, “Revolutionizing Tree Management via Innovative Spatial Techniques.” The Idea Unawareness of tree locations and their spatial relationships with urban infrastructures have disturbed our communities with increasing frequency, scale and severity. For example, Emerald Ash Borer […]

Last Week to Apply for the Blue Sky Ideas AAAI-20 Senior Member Presentation Track
September 9th, 2019 / in AI, Announcements, awards, Blue Sky / by Khari DouglasThe Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is sponsoring a Blue Sky Ideas Track at the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Meeting (AAAI-20) in February 2020 in New York through their Senior Member Presentation Track (SMPT). Summary: SMPT provides an opportunity for established researchers in the AI community to give a broad talk on a well-developed body of research, an important new research area, or a promising new topic. These presentations should provide a big picture view, in contrast to regular papers, which may focus on a specific contribution. There are two subtracks for submissions of talk proposals for the AAAI 2020 Senior Members Track (SMPT): the summary talk – broad talks on a well-developed body of research […]
