Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

NITRD 30th Anniversary Symposium Recap

The NITRD 30th Anniversary Symposium was held in Washington D.C. at the National Spy Museum. The event provided an opportunity for the computing research community to come together and celebrate the impact that federal funding has had on computing technologies, innovations and the world at large. Announcing the NITRD 30th Anniversary Symposium Panels

The Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) 30th Anniversary Symposium is fast approaching. The in-person event will be held May 25th, 2022 in Washington, D.C. to honor NITRD’s contributions and investments in networking and information technology research and development. You can see more information about the event in our previous post. Beginning at 9am ET the event will feature five panels highlighting important topics in the research community. Each panel will have a brief introduction from speakers followed by a Q&A.     The Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Program is the Nation’s primary source of federally funded work on pioneering information technologies (IT) in computing, networking, and software. On December 9th, 2021 the 30th Anniversary of the NITRD program occurred during the height of the pandemic, and accordingly a virtual commemoration was held on December 2nd, 2021 to celebrate the incredible achievements of the last 30 years while maintaining social distancing measures. On Thursday, December 2nd, a virtual celebratory event was held for the 30th anniversary of the  Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) program. The event was organized by NITRD National Coordination Office (NCO) with support from Computing Research Association’s Computing Community Consortium (CCC) to highlight and reflect on the impact federal investment in the network information technology research and development has had on society over the past three decades.
