Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

Heidelberg Laureate Forum

Preparations for the fifth Heidelberg Laureate Forum are in full swing, and applications from young researchers to attend are now being accepted. The Heidelberg Laureate Forum was created by the Klaus Tschira Foundation, the Heidelberg Institute of Theoretical Studies, ACM, the International Mathematical Union, and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters to provide an opportunity for young researchers to spend a week with winners of the Turing Award, Abel Prize, Nevanlinna Prize, and Fields Medal. Symposium on Accelerating Science: A Grand Challenge for AI

The Computing Community Consoritum (CCC) is co-sponsoring with the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) one of several symposia in the AAAI 2016 Fall Symposium series on November 17-19, 2016 in Arlington, Virginia.  The Symposium on Accelerating Science: A Grand Challenge for AI aims to bring together researchers in relevant areas of artificial intelligence (e.g., machine learning, causal inference, knowledge representation and inference, planning, decision making), high performance data and computing infrastructures and services, and selected application areas (e.g., life sciences, learning sciences, health sciences, social sciences, food energy and water nexus) to discuss progress on, and articulate a research agenda aimed at addressing, the AI grand challenge of accelerating science. White House OSTP Report- Preparing for the Future of Artificial Intelligence

The White House Frontiers Conference

This Thursday President Obama will host the White House Frontiers Conference, a national convening co-hosted with the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to explore the future of innovation here and around the world. The Computing Community Consoritum (CCC) Chair Beth Mynatt and Director Ann Drobnis and are excited to participate in the conference. It will focus on building U.S. capacity in science, technology, and innovation through a number of different tracks, including Personal, Local, National, Global, and Interplanetary. World’s Largest Technology Companies Create Historic Partnership on AI
