The mission of Computing Research Association’s (CRA) Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community and enable the pursuit of innovative, high-impact research. CCC conducts activities that strengthen the research community, articulate compelling research visions, and align those visions with pressing national and global challenges. CCC communicates the importance of those visions to policymakers, government and industry stakeholders, the public, and the research community itself. The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

This brings the total U.S. membership to 2,281 and the number of foreign members to 249. As noted in the CRA Bulletin earlier this week, a number of computer scientists were elected including CCC Council member Katherine (Kathy) Yelick, a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at UC Berkeley and the Associate Laboratory Director (ALD) for Computing Sciences at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
