The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) recently named 95 of its members as the new ACM Fellows for 2020. One of the newly named members is former Computing Community Consortium (CCC) Council member Maja Matarić, University of Southern California, for her “contributions to socially assistive robotics and human-robot systems.” Matarić was a key contributor to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap, A 20-Year Community Roadmap for AI Research in the US, which was released in August 2019. Several other individuals involved with the Computing Research Association (CRA) and Computing Research Association – Widening Participation (CRA-WP) have been named Fellows. Computing Community Consortium Blog
The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.
