The Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship is a global program that identifies and empowers the next generation of exceptional computing research talent. “Microsoft recognizes the value of diversity in computing and aims to increase the pipeline of talent receiving advanced degrees in computing-related fields to build a stronger and inclusive computing-related research community.” Over the last two decades, this program has supported over 700 fellows around the world, many of whom have gone on to work at Microsoft. The National Science Foundation (NSF) has released a new program solicitation for the Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Research Initiation Initiative (CRII). The CRII program aims to award grants that support independent research to new PhDs in their first academic position in order to support the growth of future scientists and researchers in computing. The grants are intended to support untenured faculty and researchers for their first three to five years after the completion of their PhD.
