The MacArthur Foundation recently announced its 2022 MacArthur Fellows – 25 individuals whose achievements show “new modes of activism, artistic practice, and citizen science. They are excavators uncovering what has been overlooked, undervalued, or poorly understood. They are archivists reminding us of what should survive.” The MacArthur Fellows program grants each recipient a no-strings attached stipend of $800,000 in order to support his or her own creative and professional ambitions. The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

NSF Announces New Awards to Fund the Prediction and Prevention of Pandemics

The quick onset, mass devastation, and unpredictability of new strands and waves of contagion with COVID-19 taught us just how unprepared we were to face a global pandemic.
