The Computing Community Consortium (CCC) has released a white paper titled 5G Security and Privacy – A Research Roadmap. The white paper, written by CCC Council Member Elisa Bertino (Purdue University) with Syed Rafiul Hussain (Purdue University) and Omar Chowdhury (University of Iowa), aims to stimulate conversation around a research roadmap for the security of 5G-related technologies. The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

Kelvin Droegemeier recently gave his first speech as the Head of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) at the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) 2019 annual meeting in Washington, DC. He is a meteorologist who has done substantial computer modeling and the first non-Physicist to lead OSTP. See the 42-minute video of his talk here.
