In 2009, the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) published A Roadmap for US Robotics, From Internet to Robotics (a.k.a. the Robotics Roadmap), which explored the capacity of robotics to act as a key economic enabler, specifically in the areas of manufacturing, healthcare, and the service industry, 5, 10, and 15 years into the future. Through support from the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) the US National Robotics Roadmap was first created ten years ago by a group of 120 people from industry and academia. It has since been used by government agencies, universities and companies as a reference about where robotics is going. The first roadmap was published in 2009, then revised in 2013 and 2016. The objective is to publish the 4th version of the roadmap by summer 2020. In July, Computing Community Consortium (CCC) Council member Manuela Veloso will join JPMorgan Chase & Co. as head of artificial-intelligence research. She is currently the head of the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University. From the J.P. Morgan Press Release: J.P.
